Clinical Trials: Hematologic Oncology

UNC Lineberger is participating in a novel lymphoma study at Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center through the National Cancer Institute Southeast Phase II Consortium.

The phase II trial is a clinical study for certain sub-types of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and is intended for patients whose disease has progressed following treatment with other regimens.

Kristy Richards, MD, PhD, (pictured above) is the primary investigator for the UNC based part of the trial. Read more about trial.

UNC Hematologic Oncology Program

Pat Gerrick (pictured left along with her doctor, Tom Shea, MD) participated in an UNC clinical trial for acute leukemia and then received a bone marrow transplant as part of the trial.

Pat says: "I participated in the clinical trial because of the seriousness of my illness. I wanted to attack it with all available resources. I also wanted to participate in the process of trying to find a way to cure or control this disease."

Thankful for the care she received at UNC, Pat now serves on the UNC Lineberger Board of Visitors.
